As the Regional Officials Coordinator for the Florida Region for the past seven years, he is responsible for the recruitment, education, assignment and supervision of the Florida Region’s fifty officials. He is a Category 1 USAT official and has officiated at some of the highest profile events in the United States, including the Hy-Vee Triathlon which offered a million dollars in prize money. He is also a Level 1 International Triathlon Union Technical Official.
Tom was the chief financial officer for several airlines, one of which was named Airline of the Year by the International Air Transport Association. A published author, he has written more than twenty books, including several children’s books, as well as many magazine articles. Black Knights, the Story of the Tuskegee Airmen was recommended by former Congressman Ike Skelton as mandatory reading for all military personnel. Tom also lectured frequently at museums and colleges across the United States. When not involved with triathlon, he is currently researching and writing a book about early aviation.
