Secretary / Women Committee
I grew up playing soccer and was fortunate to earn a collegiate soccer scholarship. While in college I acquired a degree in Elementary Education. Following my bachelors I moved down to South Florida and earned my master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Looking for something competitive to do, I started doing road races, and then decided to do a triathlon. I participated in my first triathlon in 2009. I fell in love and have been hooked ever since. Since 2009 I have done about 20 races. I qualified for Age group nationals last year. I went to Vermont to experience that, it was amazing to see the quality of athletes and amount of participants.
Greater than my personal goals and success, my true passion is for children. I teach first grade and absolutely love it. The past two years I organized a youth triathlon at my school. This past year I started a triathlon club and meet once a week with kindergarten through fifth grade students introducing them to the sport and training them for our school race. I am currently working with a non-profit youth triathlon club in California to start a club plant in South Florida. The sport of triathlon is such an up and coming sport for children. I want to help introduce it to the youth in my community.
I am currently working on applying to become Level 1 Certified, and then will go for youth and race director certification. This sport truly changed my life and I would love to be involved with the council through a leadership position. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you, and it again would be a great honor to serve on the council.
